FLY
(Tribute to my friend Steven Weston)
Together we share good times through laughter
And eat in the presence of each other.
You walk by my side dear friend
And offer an ear to the ridiculous.
I listen to your earnestness with acceptance
But am ignorant to hidden despair
And secret sadness.
If only your heart was not so heavy
Perhaps Life would still be in the body.
In this mortal world
I never said I love you
But now in your freedom
This may be known.
So fly the same way a bird does with winds and currents
Until Light dawns upon your destiny.
All refuse to speak in past tense
Let fond memories continue our existence
